Architecture aims at Eternity

building construction 2
This module is to generate design concept or idea through the process of sketching and model-making and translate it into simple (architectural) design. We have to apply the understanding of basic architectural design principles, and the notion of body and space interactions into our designs. At the same time, we can maximize the utilization of sketching, study modelling and other preliminary design tools going through the process-oriented approach in developing designs to produce a well-organized, systematic and creative graphical presentation through a well-drawn and executed two-dimensional form (plans, elevations and sections), three-dimensional form (sectional perspective, axonometric and perspective) and scale modelling. Moreover, this module is to prepare and enhance students verbal communication and presentation skills, all three projects are to be presented to tutors assigned, respective lecturers and external assessors.
PROJECT 1 . SKELETAL CONSTRUCTION "A SHELTER FOR ONE"
We were to design a 1:1 skeletal structure as a "Shelter For One" based on our understanding about the skeletal structure and its components in a group of 5-6. In this project, we had to show our understanding about how a skeletal structure reacts underloading, how the skeletal construction works and also we must be able to manipulate skeletal construction to solve an oblique design problem.

BUILDING CON P1 REPORT

BUILDING CON P1 REPORT
Report for Project 1
From this project, we had learnt how to apply the different type of joints, the construction system and also recognize the implication of construction systems in design. We learnt about the joints, how to connect the componets in the structure to make sure the stability and strength of the shelter. Besides, we learnt to analyse the issues of strength, stiffness and stability of structures including modes of structural systems, forces, stress and strain and laws of static.
PROJECT 2 . understanding forces in building construction
In a group of 2, we were to choose a building with Gridshell Construction or Tensile Construction as a reference then create our own design and model refering to the construction type of that building we have chosen. From this, we were to create an understanding of building components used and its assembly then demonstrate good drawing skills in building details and also how it reacts under loading and force. Besides, we must be able to manipulate the selection of materials used and ensure its buildability.
